Completed during August 22-26- Continued laying storm drain pipe, working from State Street towards Parking Plaza North– 130 ft of trench excavated, new pipe laid down and backfilled
- Continued excavation of dirt below street level in preparation for the new sub-base and asphalt top of the new streets—85% completed
- Gas trench dug to connect First Street line to the main in the Central Parking Plaza
- Exploratory digging around the two sewer manholes in the First & Main intersection
- Begin trenching and laying of new electrical & irrigation lines along First Street
- Tree stumps ground and removed (Friday)
Unexpected Finds- Several re-engineering solutions were required this week– impacting the work pace for two days. An old sewer manhole and grading elevations were the primary issues
- Adding weekend work for the next two weeks will make-up for the two slow work days
Scheduled for August 27-September 2- Begin working Saturdays (and also Sunday this weekend) to keep project on schedule
- Remove the two sewer manholes in the First & Main intersection and replace with new lower covers and cones
- Remove existing concrete cap & install new fortified, deeper concrete cap on main water line
- Finish grading and compacting of road bed in First and Main intersection
- Begin installing Geo-fabric and base rock for the new road bed
- Continue excavation of below grade dirt for street sub-base along First Street
- Finish excavation of new storm drain trench and laying storm drain pipe, working from Safeway towards Parking Plaza North
- Begin saw cutting First Street sidewalk from State Street to the North Plaza for irrigation & electrical lines
Traffic Update- Temporary lane closure on First Street between State and Parking Plaza North will continue with flaggers during work hours
- Unrelated to the First Street Project– the intersection of State & Third Streets will be closed Sunday, Aug 28 for sandblasting from 6am-11pm
